Love ~ Canvas

Aug 31, 2012

Before I share this canvas tutorial which is super fun and not difficult to recreate at all I want to let you know about an awesome giveaway iLoveToCreate is having on their blog. I really love their Aleene’s adhesives and use them all the time. Well you have a chance to win my latest book “Delight In The Seasons” AND a wonderful assortment of Aleene’s adhesives. You can visit their blog HERE to enter their giveaway.

Ok now for the tutorial. You will need a gallery wrapped canvas, vintage ledger paper, vintage sheet music, Fiskars Round n’ Round Squeeze Punches Extra Large & Large, doilies, Maya Road Mini Chipboard Alphas (Love is the new Uppercase Lisa), Paint Brush, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium ~ Matte, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paint Traditional Tan, Blank Canvas & Charcoal Black, Aleene’s Tacky Glue

First paint the entire front and sides of the canvas with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paint in Traditional Tan. Let dry. Once dry attach Large and Extra Large circles punched from vintage ledger paper and sheet music using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium Matte on the top and sides of the canvas as shown.

Attach the doilies on the top and sides of the canvas again using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium Matte. Once the doilies are attached place a thin layer of the Multi-Medium over the entire top and sides of the canvas.

Again, using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium ~ Matte attach punched sheet music circles inside the center of each doily. Again apply another thin layer of Multi-Medium on the top and sides of the canvas. Using the tip of your paint brush handle, dip it into Claudine Hellmuth Studio Blank Canvas Paint and begin adding polka dots all around the inside circle of the vintage ledger paper and sheet music on the top and sides of the canvas. I use the paint that is on the inside of the lid once opened.

While the polka dots are drying apply Claudine Hellmuth Studio Charcoal Black Paint onto the Maya Road Mini Chipboard Alphas and Uppercase Lisa Alphas and let dry.

Apply Aleene’s Tacky Glue to the back of each painted alpha and attach to your canvas as shown above. Once dry you have a canvas ready to display in your home or office or giveaway as a gift. And speaking of giveaway, don’t forget to register for the giveaway at iLoveToCreate. Good luck!

Hugs!
