They did it!!!

Jun 5, 2012

Yes THEY, as my nephew Brittain graduated high school the night before Ansley. So my mom and dad get the grandparent’s award for sure. They went to Brittain’s graduation in Kountze, Texas Friday evening, then drove straight to Frisco to attend Ansley’s graduation, Saturday morning. They arrived at our place at 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning, slept a few hours and then bam it was graduation time all over again. Ansley and Brittain have worried about Mom Mom and Paw Paw attending their graduations since they were in the 6th grade. My mom and dad always told them they would get there one way or another and they stayed true to their promise.

Then with one day to rest up a slightly older version of these two left bright and early Monday morning to head back home to Beaumont, celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary. What a way to celebrate an anniversary… driving 6 hours in a car. But I guess really they put themselves in that predicament because without them none of us would be here. Maybe they reminisced about their great escape from Salem, WV in 1963, as they drove to Deep Creek, Maryland to run off and get married… it was kinda like old times I guess.

Love you, Mom and Dad!

And in Honor of all these wonderful Celebrations how about a book giveaway. Leave a comment telling me your favorite yearly celebration(s) and I will enter you into a drawing for a signed copy of my new book “Delight In The Seasons ~ Crafting A Year of Memorable Holidays and Celebrations”!

Wonderful pics Lisa and isn’t brilliant that their grandparents were there to celebrate with them at such an important time.  My favourite celebration is my Mum’s birthday on 26th December.  I used to think it was a shame being so close to Christmas but its an annual get-together of all the family including her great granddaughter now so I love it and she’s 90 this year so it will be extra special!

My favorite family and friends celebration is July 4: Independence Day because it is finally warm in NE Washington state and family can travel to visit and celebrate outside.(More than just the younger generation in the snow. )The country side is beautiful and finally we have flowers.I see green fields, flowers, July 4th decorations, parades,
family fun and BBQ’s. The time just goes too fast. So many people to see, so many things to do.Love it!

    Hi Lisa,
Your daughter is so adorable…and what cute nephew.  Your parents are such troopers.  Thanks for sharing.  My favorite celebration is “Mother’s Day.”  I do not have any children, but I am an only child and my Mama is my heart and so special to me.  She lives in South Carolina.and no matter what, we are always together on Mother’s Day.

Congrats to your children and your parents!  Great photos and memories.  My favorite celebration is Xmas Eve.  My Mom always made sure it was special for my brother and me.  She came from a family of sixteen children and money was extremely tight.  After she was married and had a family of her own, she’d shop sales months before the holiday to make sure  Xmas was extra special for us kids.  To tell you the truth, I don’t remember the gifts but feeling very loved.  Xmas will always be something special!

May 2012 was an especially busy month for me.  My 2nd born granddaughter Britta graduated from New Mexico State University on Saturday 5/12/12, her sister Jenna turned 21 that same day and the next day was Mother’s Day.  My son-in-law took his mom, his wife and his mother-in-law (that would be me) to an awesome brunch Sunday morning before I drove back home.  Whew!  What a whirlwind weekend but I loved it all!

Wonderful photos and story!  Thanks so much for sharing them with us.  My daughter just graduated from UT in Arlington, Texas with her MBA in buisness.  It seems like she just graduated from highschool a few days ago! How does the time fly away so fast?
I would have to say that my favorite celebrations are my children’s birthdays.  (My daughter is 23 years old and I have a son that is 5 years old.  Yup, almost 18 years in-between them and they are my only children!  LOL!)  I’m reminded every year on their birthdays (everyday actually) how, through triump and sometimes trouble, I am so blessed to be their Mom.

At this time in our lives, Christmas time is really the only time we get together as a family.  My older girls are in college, so we spend a lot of time at the table, chatting, playing games, being goofy and taking pictures of each other.  Those pictures make me smile a lot…
