Homemade Hand & Body Scrubs

Jun 29, 2012

Each day while Madelyn is visiting I’m doing some kind of fun craft or project with her. Yesterday, she made some awesome yummy body and hand scrubs with products I already had at home. Madelyn had lots of fun and made 4 batches of each scrub. The photos above show how she made her “Vanilla Body Scrub”. Supplies Needed: Brown Sugar, Sugar in the Raw, Vanilla Extract and Canola Oil, 1/2 measuring cup, tablespoon, mixing bowl, mixing spoon, container you will use for your body scrub Instructions for ONE batch: Pour 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar in the raw into your mixing bowl and mix together. A Birthday Luncheon Surprise

Jun 28, 2012

Madelyn had a super special day, yesterday. In this photo she had no clue what fun was headed her way. Before coming to see us this week, she discovered there was an American Girl store in Dallas. Madelyn LOVES her American Girl My Twin and wanted so badly to go and get her dolls ears pierced. So me being me could not just settle for that knowing her 9th birthday was so close… July 2nd. Before she arrived I called and made reservations for a surprise birthday luncheon in her honor. Ansley and Terri were able to come celebrate with us and my mom and dad and her mom and Malcolm made sure to send her money (unknowingly to her it was tucked inside her suitcase) so Madelyn could purchase her beloved McKenna doll. The...

Rose Shaped Crayons

Jun 27, 2012

Madelyn had such a fun time creating these rose shaped crayons. All you need is crayons and gosh do I ever have a stash of crayons (I always saved those left over from Terri and Ansley’s school days) and a silicone rose muffin pan. I found mine at Hobby Lobby in the cake section. I have seen silicone ice cube trays in the $1 section at Target in different themes so look there too. I saw hearts, stars and luau themes, just yesterday. All you need to do is take the paper off of each crayon, break each crayon into 4 pieces, place into molds until the crayons fill each mold, place into preheated oven and bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 13 min., remove from oven and let cool completely. Once the...

My Mom’s Birthday…

Jun 25, 2012

Today, marks my mom’s 70th birthday!!! Or maybe I should say, today marks the 35th anniversary of her 35th birthday? If you have my book “Delight in the Season Crafting a Year of Memorable Holidays and Celebrations” you know she and I have created all my life. So in honor of mom’s birthday/anniversary celebration, how about a book giveaway? All you have to do is leave mom a birthday wish in this blog post, then when we hit 70 wishes I’ll have her pick a winner for a signed copy of “Delight In The Seasons.” This is one of my favorite layouts in “Delight In The Seasons” of my mom and her mother. It really captures both of them so well. Vintage inspired patterned papers, fabric cabbage roses, leaf pins, butterfly and lots of...

Bellie Comes to Visit

Jun 19, 2012

Oh how I LOVE being an Aunt!!! Bellie, my youngest niece is visiting this week. This is her first time to come and stay for a week all by herself. Alan and I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. Although in the photo below that was taken on the way back to our house, she informed us she is not Bellie… she is a walrus. How could we make such a mistake? As you can see from the collage there is some serious spoiling going on. But this is our job and Alan and I take our work very seriously.  Just a typical day with Uncle Alan and Beasie (my oldest niece Amanda gave me this name years ago and it stuck) Playing at the park after eating ice cream from...

They did it!!!

Jun 5, 2012

Yes THEY, as my nephew Brittain graduated high school the night before Ansley. So my mom and dad get the grandparent’s award for sure. They went to Brittain’s graduation in Kountze, Texas Friday evening, then drove straight to Frisco to attend Ansley’s graduation, Saturday morning. They arrived at our place at 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning, slept a few hours and then bam it was graduation time all over again. Ansley and Brittain have worried about Mom Mom and Paw Paw attending their graduations since they were in the 6th grade. My mom and dad always told them they would get there one way or another and they stayed true to their promise. Brittain’s Graduation ~ Kountze High School ~ Kountze, Texas June 1, 2012 ~ 7:00 o’clock in the evening Ansley’s Graduation ~ Centennial High...
