Flea Market Finds

Mar 30, 2012

I’ve been doing a lot of flea market and antique shopping with my mom and dad over the past few months. We all have the “Thrill of The Hunt” gene deep within our DNA. It is so fun just heading out to dig having no idea what you will find that day. This past weekend when Terri and I went down to surprise them I found a few things that I cannot wait to incorporate into projects. Everything I found was miniature which I LOVE so much. The two tart tins are going to be turned into a two tiered piece to store tiny baubles on my work table. It will be the perfect size and look so cute. These adorable birthday cake candle holders will work perfectly in a shadow box project. I...

Peeps Cake and Cupcakes

Mar 28, 2012

As soon as I discovered this “Peeps Sunflower Cake” on Pinterest I knew I was going to make it with or without a kid. I’m so glad I have two little nieces that are ready and waiting to make anything with me. I had a blast watching them create their Peeps Sunflower Cake and Peeps Bunny Cupcakes. And by the looks of these photos, they had lots of fun too. To make this a bit simpler I purchased both the chocolate cake and cupcakes from the bakery already iced. This way all Madelyn and Bellie had to do was decorate and I did not have to bake both a cake and an entire batch of cupcakes. Madelyn created her Peeps Sunflower Cake by following the instructions on the taste of home website. Click on the...

Featured Artist ~ Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

Mar 27, 2012

Be still my heart… Several months ago I participated in a blog hop for Julie Fei-Fan Balzer the girl behind Balzer Designs and the awesome catchy phrase “I’m a Dirty Girl” . After the blog hop I asked Julie if she would be a “Featured Artist” showcasing my Antiquated Collection stamp line. I was over the moon excited when she said yes. I find her funky art journaling simply amazing. I have no clue how she does what she does… all I know is, is I LOVE IT! For her “Featured Artist” piece Julie used the Antiquated Collection stamp sets “Society Lady and Stylish and Fashionable“. I think her use of color is awesome and wish I could have watched her create this piece from start to finish. I like the contrast of bold colors with the...

Surprises are so FUN!

Mar 26, 2012

Terri and I headed down to Beaumont, Wednesday to surprise my mom and dad. This surprise has been in the making for over a month and if you know me well, you know it is a miracle that I kept the surprise. The photo above was taken on our way home because on the way down it was pitch black. We decided to leave at 8 o’clock in the evening instead of bright and early, Thursday morning. This means we arrived at mom and dad’s at 1:30 in the morning. There is nothing more fun than surprising your parents with an unexpected visit and of course hearing your mother come out of a sound sleep saying, “What in the hell is going on” (still makes me giggle) as Terri, Amanda (my niece) and I...

Featured Artist ~ Susie Moore

Mar 23, 2012

I’m thrilled to show you the tag and mini hanging Susie Moore created using my Antiquated Collection stamp sets. Susie created the tag above using the Perfumery  stamp set. The altered flowers with their bold color are perfect to accent the side of the perfume bottle. And you know I love the glittered edges of the tag. Then the pearl accents on the crown complete the tag perfectly.  Goodness, my stamp set, glitter and pearls could it really get any more perfect? Then the mini wall hanging shown below features the ATC Misses’ Aprons stamp. Look at all the awesomeness Susie has going on here… the flower accents on the apron are adorable. And all the pearls and baubles she added to the wall hanging complete it perfectly. I tell ya I cannot create a thing...

For The Love of Peeps

Mar 21, 2012

Ahhh, it’s springtime which means flowers blooming, birds tweeting, the leaves on trees are a beautiful spring green AND the shelves in Target, Walgreen’s and Tom Thumb are FILLED with PEEPS! I love Peeps fresh from the package, dried out and a bit chewy or warmed in the microwave does not matter how they are given to me I will eat them. I do find it strange though that I prefer the yellow chicks and pink bunnies over the other colors. The taste is the same but for some reason the yellow chicks and pink bunnies are more appealing to me. Maybe it’s because I always got yellow chicks and pink bunny Peeps as a child every Easter. Since I’m addicted to Pinterest, I did a little search for “Peeps” and look at all the...

In Honor of Spring

Mar 20, 2012

Since today is the first day of Spring what better way to celebrate than with a book giveaway. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me which “Season” is your favorite and why. I will announce the winner of my book “Delight In The Seasons”, Friday. I love all the seasons but summer in Texas is my least favorite. The fun holidays and celebrations that come along  like birthdays, vacations, weddings, Independence Day etc., certainly helps make up for the 100+ degree temperatures BUT I still do not like summer. So, leave a comment for your chance to win… I can’t wait to read about your favorite season. Good Luck....

Mar 12, 2012

I just had to show you the two bunnies I made for Madelyn and Bellie, this weekend. I felted the bunnies and carrots and Mom made their tutus. You can see I’ve certainly been bitten by the felting bug. This weekend, I also went to a flea market and some antique shops to find items to incorporate with my felting projects. It was a very successful weekend for sure. I found lots of cute vintage items and I cannot wait to start creating with them. I plan on creating altered projects during the day and felting at night then filling up my online shop with all the felting items I obsessively create. Olivia at 1 Month

Mar 6, 2012

It is hard to believe Olivia is already a month old. A few weeks ago my mother and father-in-law went to meet their newest granddaughter for the first time. Needless to say they are in love and got in as many snuggles as possible. There is nothing cuter, sweeter or more demanding than a new baby. Douglas and Karen have survived the first month without too much sleep deprivation and are enjoying Olivia tremendously. I must admit it seems so odd to me seeing photos of Douglas feeding and burping a baby. I first met him when he was 18 and just out of high school preparing to head off to Texas A&M. Once Douglas graduated he moved to Dallas not too far from where we lived. He would come over some weekends to...

Needle Felting

Mar 5, 2012

I have certainly been bitten by the needle felting bug… this craft is so much fun! Since March is National Craft Month I say try a craft you have always wanted to try but just wouldn’t break out of your crafty comfort zone. It is well worth the attempt. You just might fall in love like I have with another medium. Watch for the items I’ve created over the weekend to be listed in the “SHOP“ on my blog soon. I have big plans for these little cuties! This teeny tiny bunny only measures 1.75″ in length. I need to place him or her in a little vintage something. My sister named her Miss Bluebell. I still need to alter her chair and add some other accessories to complete her. This mouse is named...

Felting Bunnies

Mar 1, 2012

Lately, I have really been interested in the art of felting. So the other night while I was sitting with Alan watching American Idol a few nights ago I  tried making a bunny. I cannot just sit and do nothing when watching TV, it makes me a nervous wreck, so felting is something that works perfectly for me.  THIS picture TUTORIAL is what I used to make the bunny shown above. I thought instead of using yarn to make the head and body and felt to create the ears I could make them using wool roving. This is an easy way to learn how to make adorable little bunnies. Mine stands a little less than 3″ tall.   Last night, while watching American Idol once again, I started another bunny, but this time I’m going to...
