Maya Road Sneak Peek 3

Jan 22, 2012

I’m really liking all the wood items Maya Road is releasing at CHA. You can alter these in so many different ways. I applied watered down Espresso Brown Maya Mist on the Wooden Doily then once dry lightly rubbed a Maya Road Gold Ink Pad around the edges. This gave the doily a nice aged look.

Next, I painted the entire top side of the Wooden Bird with a thin layer of acrylic paint, while the paint was still wet I sprinkled a light coating of Maya Road Iridescent Glitter on top. Once the paint was dry I covered the top of the bird with two layers of Diamond Glaze, making sure it dried completely in between each layer. The top of the bird is accented with vintage buttons, a piece of Vintage Rhinestone Emerald Trim and the word “art” from the Art Journaling Words Clear Stamp Set.

The Wood Doily on this piece I left raw and decided to covered it with Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter then accented the edges using Gold Stickles. I placed the altered Wood Bird on top of a Vintage Mini Ruler and accented that using a Vintage Sequins Blossom and a Silver Mum from the Vintage Lace Trim. The word “fly” is from the Wings To Fly Birds Clear Stamp Set and is framed using a gold painted square from the Scallop Frames Mini Chipboard Set. This piece is going to be placed in a shadow box style frame and hang in my scraproom once CHA is over. I love the look and the color scheme.

See ya tomorrow.

Hugs!
