Took a quick trip…

Oct 12, 2011

I decided to go to Beaumont over the weekend for some antique and thrift store shopping as well as hit this wonderful flea market. Mom, dad and I were up and out early Friday, Saturday and Sunday and found some AWESOME items for me to use in upcoming class projects and workshops. I was so happy. I just give mom and dad a list of items I’m looking for and they are off and running. They scored some great finds for me this trip. Those two are keepers I tell ya.

I took a few photos of some of the items we found. I have boxes filled with great vintage stuff. But some I’m gonna keep a secret as a girl can’t share all her surprises… can she?

We found salt and pepper shakers, an awesome book filled with vintage sheet music, lots of wooden blocks, aluminum molds, candy molds, mercury glass ornaments and bottle brush trees. I have no idea where I will be storing all my finds but let me just say the front room and bar in our house looks like a bomb went off. It has boxes and boxes of vintage stuff all over the place. I need my TA Darlene from Artistic Journey BAD, BAD, BAD right now. She is super good at organizing.

And I was thrilled when dad found this booth with yards and yards and yards of awesome trims and lace. I cannot wait to work these into projects. The colors are the perfect shades of cream and pinks which I love to us in projects.

Dad also made me a few things while I was visiting. He made me a Pepper Mill with Lisa’s Kitchen at the top and a scene of a golden retriever and his master hunting a pheasant carved around the bottom. I really miss going in the field with my sweet golden boy Sonny.

Then he made me a piece of yard art for my flower bed. He attached clear glass plates, bowls, a candle holder, lids and a soda float glass. I love it and need to figure out which flower bed to put it in so that my adorable dogs don’t break it cause then they would instantly not be so adorable.

So now you kinda know why I did not post anything on my blog these past several days. I’ve been out traveling, digging and finding treasures.

Oh and tomorrow I will be posting the final part of the Pop Art Portrait tutorial in my Tips, Techniques and Tutorials online workshop so make sure you check it out.

Hugs!
