Needle Felting.…

I have loved Heidi Boyd and her felted projects since the first day I dis­cov­ered her… her cute “nee­dle felted nest­ing blue­birds” project first caught my atten­tion then when I dis­cov­ered these adorable felted Hedge­hogs and Bun­nies  she posted on her blog, well I was hooked and have been think­ing of try­ing the craft of nee­dle felt­ing every­day since.

So this week­end, Ans­ley and I had a great time giv­ing this craft a try and we really had fun. After a few painful sticks in the fin­gers and hours later we com­pleted sev­eral small embell­ish­ments. I made an acorn and some leaves (want to add stitch­ing for veins with gold embroi­dery floss) Ans­ley cre­ated a pump­kin, some stars and a flower.

Her friend Matt even joined in and made a candy cane and a Christ­mas stock­ing. It was fun watch­ing the Ranger’s game and those two nee­dle felt­ing. They even drove to the store to get dif­fer­ent col­ored wool rov­ing since I didn’t have hip col­ors.… you know col­ors like pink, light green and red.

I now have lots of ideas to cre­ate unique felted embell­ish­ments for class projects and can’t wait to start creating.
