Artistic Journey Recap…

Oct 4, 2011

What an awesome weekend! I was so lucky to get to create with so many wonderfully creative and inspiring ladies. Weeks before the event began Caroline and Carolyn put out a challenge to those attending Artistic Journey to create a tag telling three things about themselves. Once they finished they then sent the tags to Carolyn so she could create a wonderful window display. These are just a few of the tags sent.  I love how each one captures their personality. Awesome job ladies.

Friday night, during our meet and greet each attendee was given a canvas apron to alter any way they wanted…. Carolyn and Caroline had stations set up all over The Crafty Scrapper with lots of trims, embellishments etc. for them to use. It was so fun seeing how different everyone’s apron turned out. The one shown below is the apron my assistant, Darlene Mackey created. I think it turned out so pretty.

While the attendees were picking and choosing items to alter their aprons, each teacher had a make n take station to create a little extra something for them to attach to their apron. Mine was the red satin pleat and tulle flower with the antique jewel button just underneath the “d and a” on Darlene’s apron. I love layering these two trims. You have got to give it a try. This combo creates a gorgeous flower.

It truly was a BLAST getting to work with Carolyn, Caroline, Dina Wakley and Shelley Haganman. We all stayed at Carolyn’s house so Friday and Saturday evening after the event we got lots of time to chat and laugh. I really do have the best arty friends one could ever hope to have. I am truly been blessed in this industry. The friends I have in this industry are true friends and it is awesome.

I created this collage using photos taken by Sonia Hernandez Doneghue. I’m so glad she took so many as she really did capture the spirit of this event. Thanks, Sonia for letting me use your photos. You took some awesome photos.

This collage is created from photos I took during each of my three classes and when I had a chance to do a quick walk around the store. It was awesome getting to spend the weekend with all you wonderful ladies. I hope you enjoyed my class as much as I enjoyed teaching it.

Sending a great big thank you to Rebecca Cross with Pink Paislee. I really appreciate your sponsorship and prize donations. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

P.S. All photos shown with the Artistic Journey 2011 label were taken by Sonia Hernandez Doneghue.
