Are you a dreamer…

Sep 14, 2011

I often wonder how many people dream of things they wish they could do but allow fear to creep inside their heads which then ends up keeping them from achieving their dreams. Are you one of these people? If so, you need to break free of the fear and shoot for the moon. I’m sure most of you have heard or read the quote by Les Brown, “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss it you will land among the stars.” This is so true.

I have always been a very goal oriented person. If I set a goal I will achieve this goal no matter what. Now the “no matter what” does not mean I will push people to the ground and walk all over them to achieve this goal, it means I will work hard, play nice and in the end obtain my goal. If you are a dreamer what are your dreams? Is one of your dreams to break into this industry? If so, what is holding you back? What is the one thing keeping you from clearing this hurdle? If it is fear, well this is not a good enough answer. Fear is a wasted emotion and everyone has fear when breaking into the unknown. Is it rejection? Rejection is going to happen there is nothing you can do about it no one likes rejection you just have to get thick skinned. I have been rejected many times but never let that stop me. I just keep on going. Okay, so is it self doubt? Well we all have self doubt at one time or another so again, you are going to have to get over this one. It’s not a good enough reason to not clear the hurdle. Are you starting to realize I wont accept any answer for not at least trying? The best thing you can do if you really want something is to jump in feet first, take off running, work hard and try, try and try again until you achieve the success you are aiming for.

I suggest you start with baby steps, my cousin David has a saying that I love and feel is so true, “Inch by inch, life’s a cinch. Yard by yard life is hard.” If you want to write and create a book but have never worked a day in this industry well this goes under the yard by yard category. First you want to start with creating a blog, post to online galleries, get a following, try out for Design Teams like Kit Clubs and Manufacturers. You must have a following. All these steps go under the inch by inch category. If you just set and achieve one goal after another before you know it you will be right where you want to be.…

And today, I am right where I want to be… heading to ScrapFest to teach classes and do book signings. I started out on the inch by inch path… Blog “It’s In The Details” — Cocoa Daisy Kit Club — Maya Road Manufacturer– Memory Makers Master — Teaching at Scrapbook Stores & Retreats — Hosting Online Workshops — Wrote & Created my 1st book “Delight In The Details” — Wrote & Created my 2nd Book “Delight In The Seasons” — and I’m happy to say another goal is about to be obtained which I cannot wait to tell you all about.

So what are you waiting for… get going because there are goals to set and goals to achieve. I know you can do it. I believe in you.

Hugs!

    Lisa,

Thank you for such an inspiring post. I am in the process of breaking away from what is hindering my creativity so your words really touched me.

My heart’s desire is now more in line with God’s will and I see Him moving me toward the greatest happiness I’ve ever been allowed to experience.

I only expect the best now because I know Who is leading me toward great creativity.
