Happy Days…

May 31, 2011

No, not the show from the 70’s… those fun summer moments when we were younger that we had no clue would be the happy childhood memories of today. I spent hours outside jumping rope, blowing bubbles, having fun at the beach, slurping on popsicles with my brother and eating watermelon on hot summer days while the juices ran down my chin. These are the moments I look back on and remember fondly. So, with all these memories being shared, you can bet when I saw these patterned papers by Pink Paislee in the June “Fruit Smoothie and Banana Split” Add On kits by Cocoa Daisy I knew just what I was going to make… a fun summer card. I think this card portrays all that is summer as a child. Additional supplies used came...

Summer Memento Box

May 30, 2011

Now that reveal day is over at Cocoa Daisy and what a fun time that was I might add, I can now start to show you some of the projects I created using the Cherry Soda June Main Kit and Fruit Smoothie and Chocolate Malt Add On Kits. I had a blast creating this summer memento box for Ansley. It’s perfect for her to store all her photos, souvenirs and other keepsakes from this summer. If you want to learn how to make this project, I’ll  have a tutorial in my Tips, Techniques & Tutorials online workshop posted sometime this week. I’m telling ya, Christine ROCKS the Cocoa Daisy Kits! Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day and thank you to all the service men and women (past and present) who bravely put their lives on...

Tomorrow is REVEAL day…

May 27, 2011

I’ve been having a blast creating with the Cocoa Daisy June Kit and since tomorrow is reveal day for subscribers, I thought I would give you some sneak peeks of what I’ve been creating. You don’t want to miss out on this kit and I fear you will if you’re not a subscriber. It has been so fun working with bright summer colors. And GASP… not one book page or vintage button was used in any of these projects! I’m amazed… really you all know how I love book pages and vintage buttons. That certainly does say a lot about this kit being so awesome! I’ve created 3 cards, 3 projects (one sneak peek can be found here) and a layout using the main kit and a few of the add ons and STILL...

So Proud…

May 26, 2011

The summer of 2000 we had the honor of hosting an exchange student from Albania. Julian was the sweet exchange student we could have ever hosted. All of us have such found memories of him staying with our family his junior year. The one thing I remember laughing about a lot was when he would say “no” but shake his head “yes”. I would just look at him so confused and ask him what his answer was… then tell him here when you shake your head like that it means yes not no… we would just laugh. The entire family adored him… grandparents, brothers, sisters, my niece’s and nephew etc. You cannot help but love him when you meet him. These photos still hang on our wall. Ansley never let him out of her...

Goofiest Dog Ever..

May 25, 2011

Chief is such a fun dog to have around. Alan and I have always been huge golden retriever fans… love, love, love this breed. Well, Chief came to us unexpectedly and at first we just were not sure we wanted another great big dog that was not a golden. Well, after one day with this big boy we fell in love with him and all his goofy ways. He is a huge softy and has the best personality. So needless to say, he never left our home. You would think all this dog does, as well as my husband Alan, is sleep on the couch. Honestly, Alan works all the time and Chiefie just loves to be the hard working supervisor as you can see from these photos. When he is not supervising Alan...

Cherry Soda

May 19, 2011

Yesterday, felt like a play day… no work just play. I started creating a project using the June Kit ~ Cherry Soda by Cocoa Daisy. This kit and the add ons are so bright and fun I can’t put it down. As you know most of my work is done with lots of cream colors from old book pages and other ephemera so this is quite a change. And a change I guess I needed at the moment. I’m having so much fun that I thought I’d share a tiny sneak peek with you. Just love the loads of summer color. If you’re a Cocoa Daisy subscriber you can purchase the main kit and add ons starting, May 28th. Those that are not subscribers can make purchases, June 1st. But… this means you take...

Its been a Dogs day afternoon…

May 17, 2011

and soon to be bath day as well for three super wonderful doggies. Today, I am taking a day off from the studio to just relax and get myself organized. I’ve discovered I’m the worlds worst at relaxing. I just cannot do it. Always feel like I need to be doing something at all hours of the day or night. So today I sat outside with the four legged babies and threw toys and just chilled. They loved it and I love watching how they are all so different in personality. We can only throw rope toys or balls for one dog at a time. Chiefie being the youngest can out run the other two, Buster being the middle is a pure toot and will turn nasty the second Chief or Sonny even thinks...

I’m so happy to tell you all I’m once again part of the Cocoa Daisy Design Team. I was on the team from October 2006 – March 2008 but once I started writing and creating my book Delight In The Details I felt the need to step down as I was a bit overwhelmed and didn’t feel I could give 100%. The door remained open for me to return and I’m thrilled to be back. I feel this kit club is the absolute best. Christine does an incredible job designing the kits, she has been awesome book sponsor and Christine treats her design team with the utmost respect. Here are some sneak peeks of the June Kit and all the add ons… you’re gonna be so inspired. It’s incredible. June Kit ~ Cherry Soda...

Bird Nest Charm

May 9, 2011

I’ve been noticing a lot of bird nest charms being created lately and thought I would give making one a try over the weekend. It’s not perfect, yet not too bad for a first attempt either. So you have a reference point this charm is about the size of a quarter. The creative process is pretty simple… just thread a bead for each child in your family onto 26 gauge wire (I used 24 gauge but think the 26 would look nicer), twist the wire near the beads to secure them in place, then just wrap the wire around and around and around the beads until you get the birds nest to the size you like. I then cut two pieces of wire to about 2 inches in length and wrapped them around the...

Happy Mother’s Day

May 8, 2011

Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ~Author Unknown This photo of me and my mom always makes me laugh. The expression on my face and my head tilted down makes it look as though I had been eating one too many a moon pie. I’m guessing I was around 3 or 4 years old. I hope all you moms out there have a wonderful Mother’s Day. And here is a little something that might inspire you to take photos around your “Home Sweet Home“ to document your life as it is today. If you haven’t checked out Suze Weinberg’s etsy shop you need to… she creates some really cool and funky necklaces. I purchased one a few months ago that I just love and talked about it here. Well the other day I took another look in her etsy shop and BAM found another necklace I had to have. I tell ya I can only go and look every few months because I would purchase one every time I visited. This one has all the colors I wear and I love all the baubles she added, so what’s a girl to do… click add to cart. The quality of Suze’s workmanship, beads and baubles is top notch but then again, I would not expect anything less from her. And today, I will finish book project #60...

Mother’s Day Charms

May 5, 2011

Here is a very sweet gift to create for mom this Mother’s Day…. her very own mom charms. The charms shown below are charms of my mom as a little girl and her mom as a young lady and in her early 40’s. A necklace accented with charms of images of your mom, her mother and all your siblings would be a wonderful gift. You could even accent the charms with pearl baubles. I think this would make a very special gift and one she will cherish. Please note you will need to print your photos using a laser printer or the image will run once you apply the glossy accents. Supplies Used: Two Peas In A Bucket carries all the supplies used… Tim Holt Facets, Tim Holtz Baubles, Glossy Accents, Fiskars Fingertip Craft...

Mother’s Day Pin or Charm

May 3, 2011

This week with my final book deadline being Monday, of next week, I’m going to try to do some quick posts of projects you can create for Mother’s Day. If I miss a day or two… well you know what the deal is… So today I created a pin that can easily be placed onto a necklace and used as a charm, if pins are not for you. Or you can attach it to her gift as an accent on a gift bag or box. I’m sure you all can think of lots of different ways to use this cameo. The Maya Road Mini Chipboard Cameos Set is super fun to alter. If you’ve not yet had a chance to play around with these give them a try. I think you’ll love them. You can...
