CHA Day 2…

Jan 31, 2011

Over 100 make-n-takes and yards and yards of Pleat Satin Edging having been cut, day 2 of CHA has come to an end. Tomorrow I will be with Maya Road from 10:00 until 12:30. Then at 1:00 I will be doing a book signing and make-n-take for F+W Media (booth #2234) until 2:00. From 2:00 to 2:30 I will be doing another book signing for R+M West Coast Distributors (booth #608). Now remember, since I am on a tight schedule F+W Media will be handing out only 20 tickets to those in line just before my book signing and make-n-take. So if you want to play and get a signed book make sure you get there early. Once I am finished with the book signing at R+M I will head back over to the...

CHA Day 1…

Jan 29, 2011

What a great day in the Maya Road booth. I taught the art banner make-n-take from 10:00 – 5:30. Everyone was so patient waiting in line too… some waited for 1.5 hours. Tomorrow I will be teaching how to make the Pleat Flower Pins and Kraft Doily Pins. I will start the make-n-takes at 10:00 and go  until 2:00. Then I will head over to the Fisakars (Booth #1323) doing a card make n take from 2:30 – 4:00. We will be using all kinds of great Fiskars punches and patterned paper from “The Girls Paperie”. After I finish this make n take I will head back to Maya Road for more make n take fun. Now for some photos… Here are the project winners from the Maya Road Bring Your Project To CHA...

Jan 28, 2011

Not much time for chatting this evening so I will let the photos pretty much speak for themselves. I must warn you this post is heavy on the photos. Here are all the tags each design team member created. The Ornate Botanical Blooms are one of my favorite flowers in this release. Then these Alterable Vintage Lace Blooms and Flowers are gorgeous with the Maya Mist applied. Be still my heart… these are their new Antique and Lustrous Button Jewels. I will take a million of these, thank you very much! These are super fun and so cool…. Wooden Mini Spools and Alterable Buttons Then look at these…. Mini Chipboard Portrait and Cameo Sets. Then we have all been making these cuffs using the new Satin Pleat Edging, Button Jewels and other trims to...

Set Up Day…

Jan 28, 2011

Setting up the booth begins. Yep, all these crates contain the product you want and purchase. But before the store owners can get the CHA-W release products into their stores setting up the booth and getting all the products and show samples up for display must be done. This is certainly NOT the GLAMOROUS side of trade shows. But at least Caroline makes it as fun as possible. Sarah and Laura find the humor in lots of things during the process and make you laugh but David well… he is like a grumpy old man. The opening up of the crates… let the madness begin. David a.k.a Mr. Grumpy pants, Caroline and Laura. We just finished putting down the floor and are now getting ready to put up the walls. Walls are up and...

And the fun begins…

Jan 27, 2011

Last night we ate at this really good place called Matsui. Everything was wonderful but I soon found out along with design team member Sarah that the one thing that was not so wonderful was their Japanese tea. Yikes that was some hard stuff to drink. Needless to say the laughs started right then. Sarah is Aussie tough she drank all of hers and well I must admit Laura helped me with mine. Thank goodness. Although I could have finished it off if I had, had about 5 pounds of sugar to put in it. So note to self… when the waitress says, “this is Japanese tea” take note… it is not just like any other tea. Japanese tea is certainly a long way away from the sweet tea of the south I’m used...

It’s a BeaUTEEful day over here…

Jan 24, 2011

(I think I just saw some eyerolls, but really how cute is the word BeaUTEEful? Talk about making a super cute t-shirt… and I would wear it!) Ok on to some projects. This was a simple brown box that a necklace came in and I turned it into this using these products … Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Blending Tool, Jet Black Archival Ink, two Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Stamps (Script & Flower), Embossing Ink, Mold-n-Pour, Clear UTEE, Heat Gun, Non-Stick Craft Mat, Platinum Stickles, Heavy Weight White Cardstock, Seam Binding and Foam Squares. From start to finish this took no more than 30 min. And I also made this sweet teeny tiny house covered it in UTEE (did you really think I wouldn’t?) then altered trees, trims and a banner. The entire piece is...

You are going to LOVE these…

Jan 23, 2011

I was asked to create a canvas for Ranger’s designer wall at CHA. Well the product we had to highlight was their Perfect Pearl Mists and their new Perfect Pearls colors. You are going to LOVE these. Check out Suze Weinberg’s blog to see the new colors and a few sneak peeks of her canvas… I cannot wait to see it in person. It was fun to create what ever I wanted with the only requirements being it had to be my style and I had to use the products sent my way. I used WAY MORE Ranger products on my canvas than what was required but one technique seemed to lead to another which meant using another product and so on… I think the Rock Candy Crackle Paint looks AWESOME on the frame… I...

Being Productive…

Jan 22, 2011

feels so good and yesterday was a wonderfully productive day.. I got the make-n-take I will be teaching for F+W Media all bagged up, started gathering the extra items I need to bring to CHA and created, created, created. I finished up the inspirational baubles. Wonder who’s hands these will end up in at the show. Made this ring… Ansley is going to keep me super busy making these for her and her friends. Had an awesome mail day… Thank you cThru Ruler Company… they are a book sponsor and sent me the entire Art-C line. Talk about loads of inspiration in this box! Yikes I cannot wait to start playing with this. And then I topped the night off by making this cuff using vintage lace, cream felt and new Maya Road trims....

Inspirational Baubles…

Jan 21, 2011

Not that I don’t already have enough to keep me busy with CHA  just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make something small to randomly hand out to a few people each day at CHA. Just little random acts of inspiration and kindness. And yes, it does involve UTEE. I tell ya this stuff is so fun. And I am so glad to hear some of you are going to wipe the dust off your jars and use yours. I got lots of email yesterday thanking me for the UTEE inspiration. Just remember I WARNED YOU… this stuff is addicting. I plan on altering 14 of these little hearts. Each one will have a different word and different embellishments. I will post a tutorial on how I made them in...

Seek Joy

Jan 20, 2011

I was asked to create a few things for Ranger to display at CHA. One of the products they wanted me to create with was their Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE). I had not really played around with this all that much but let me tell you I now have a serious addiction… really, if you have not created with this you need to give it a try. It is FUN and comes in several different colors. I used their Platinum, Black and Gold to create this wall hanging. Supplies Used: UTEE – Black, Platinum, Gold, Clear, Platinum & Crystal Stickles, Distress Embossing Ink, Maya Road Philadelphia Uppercase Chipboard Alphabet, Maya Road William Mini Chipboard Alphabet, Perfect Medium, Perfect Pearls – Perfect Pearl, Perfect Pearls Mist – Perfect Pearl, Heavy White Cardstock, Archival Ink...

CHA Schedule…

Jan 19, 2011

I tell ya this show seems to come faster and faster every year. But I love it as I get to reconnect with friends from all over the world. Once again I am going with Maya Road (Booth #761) and will spend most of my time doing make-n-takes in their booth as well as being harassed by David. Yes, I’m an easy target and he pulls pranks on me A LOT!!! Caroline designed all the make-n-takes for me to teach at the show and they are cute. Those attending are going to have fun making them. Here is the schedule of where I’ll be during the show. Saturday, the 29th I will be with Maya Road all day. Sunday, the 30th I will be with Maya Road until 2:00 and then with Fiskars (Booth #1323) from...

Today’s Reality…

Jan 18, 2011

Remember my nice made over scraproom way back in August… well this is the reality of it today. Lots of fun things are being created  in here for my book and for CHA. The boxes shown hold product from book sponsors, new release items and my favorite go to products. The everyday reality of this room stays pretty  much like this… just gonna keep it real for you all. I can’t be someone I’m not. So I won’t even try to tell you my room is super clean and tidy all the time. And that I put everything up as soon as I’m finished using it… nope not even gonna go there. What I do love about these photos is everything I love to work with is right there, in it’s box, close at...

Talk about fly on by…

Jan 12, 2011

I cannot believe it has been so long since my last blog post. Yikes, but I have been super busy with projects, projects, projects. Being super creative for my book and CHA has been challenging but I’m not complaining. I have been super lucky to get my hands on some new product from three manufacturers. I do believe you will want it all too. Not sure when I can start sharing but I will as soon as I get the go ahead. Super fun stuff to play with that is for sure. Which as I’m sure you have figured out explains my lack of blog posting. I made this to wear at CHA. Just a little something that will be fun to wear. It showcases the Maya Road Resin Blossoms. And my Collage Pauge...

Make Art!

Jan 4, 2011

I love these two little words. I have a wonderful cheerleader for a friend. She always sends me email filled with words like you can do it yes you can… I know you can… etc. She is the best and SHE is SUPER TALENTED too. She LOVES flowers and always signs her blog posts with “make art!” I love that. Late last night while I was looking at her blog I thought I would make her a little something to give to her at CHA. I soldered this flower pin several months ago and it’s been sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Actually, I have lots of stuff sitting on my shelves collecting dust. So I’ve decided to start sharing them with friends and family as well as in class participants. My sweet friend...

I’m focused… Promise!

Jan 3, 2011

While sitting here waiting for my Distress Crackle Paint – Rock Candy to dry I remembered I forgot to show you the bracelet dad and I made using one of my grandfather’s spoons. Well actually it’s really more like the bracelet I pounded flat, stamped poorly, dad bent into shape and fixed my stamping. Poor man, I tell ya we had some laughs or rather I laughed at the looks dad would give me when I would hand it over for him to fix. Dad’s just gotta love those crafty daughter’s that venture out into unknown art forms. We had fun though and it’s a bracelet I will cherish. All I could think of was the saying my grandfather would say from time to time when you got really focused on the imperfections of...

Another Art Form…

Jan 2, 2011

Jump Rings, Bail Plates, E6000,Vintage Buttons and BAM… new addiction! Here are a few things I made, yesterday. I need to get some chains to put these on and I think several necklaces worn at once will look really cute and certainly blingy at CHA. I love how the lighting there makes everything seem to sparkle more. Tomorrow, it’s back to book projects… refocus, Lisa, refocus! I have a technique swirling around in my head I can’t wait to try and I feel it’ll be an awesome one for my book. These are a few pieces I made for Ansley And here are several pieces I made for me out of vintage pins, buttons and cuff links. This is so much fun and I love that all are unique. Are you going to try...
