Working on something fun…

Nov 23, 2010

For the past few days in between last minute book stuff, packing projects for shipment, a Dr. visit for Ansley (poor girl is sick again) and everyday life I have been creating a simple “Countdown Banner”. This year, I am determined to keep it simple for the holidays and I am hoping this banner will remind me of this each day in December. This will be another cute project featured in my “Tips, Techniques & Tutorials” workshop. I will have the mini flashcard PDF for you to download as well as the supply list and tools needed.

Now I am off to ship a box full of book projects to my sweet editor Jenni. I am truly blessed once again with a wonderful editor. F&W Media has the best staff ever… Managing Editor, Editors, Designers, Production Coordinators, Photographers, Stylist, Sales Team, Marketing and all the others that work so hard behind the scene. They are awesome.

So that being said, if you have a book idea swirling in your head, want the extreme satisfaction of holding a book you wrote and created in your hands, fear/know it is loads of work with a little stress added in (ok maybe a lot of stress added in) but the stress comes from within not from F & W as they have a great formula all laid out for you… then do it!  Get that proposal written and send it in, don’t be discouraged if they say no. I was told no on three previous ideas in between “Delight In The Details” and book #2.

There are so many factors that go into the theme and style of a book… one being if another one is already on the shelf or already in the works. Please do not take it personally if your proposal is rejected and certainly by all means never give up as it has nothing to do with you as a person. Pretty much it is all a numbers game… it has to be marketable because lets face it, it is nice to see your book sitting on a shelf in stores but you certainly don’t want it sitting there collecting dust. If you are serious about taking this leap please email me and I will encourage you all the way… it’s pay it forward time.
