New online workshop “You R 2 Tweet”

February20

This “You R 2 Tweet” mini banner is the fun project I taught at CHA-W in Anaheim this past January. The great thing about this online workshop is you don’t have to show up at 7:00 a.m. to start creating like I and everyone else had to do. You get to create this project in the comforts of your own home and on your own time. I tell ya not being a morning person sure did make that a tough time slot for a class but we all made the best of it (most with Starbucks in hand) and had a great time creating.

This mini banner was created so everyone could finish the project in 90 min. which explains why I only used 3 pages from the Maya Road Mini 2-Ring Triangle Banner Book. And I am happy to report everyone did walk out of class with their finished project in hand. You can use my book “Delight In The Details” to reference the techniques used in this project as I included the page numbers in the instructions.

This “You R 2 Tweet” online workshop will begin March 1st with access continuing to the private blog until March 31st. The cost for this online workshop is $9.95. Once you register for the workshop you will be given access to the complete supply list. On March 1st step-by-step instructions as well as color photos of the mini banner will be posted to the private blog.

I’m looking forward to creating with you once again.
Have a great weekend.

Easter Ornaments and Canvas Sampler Class Info

February17

In this class you will create 6 adorable Easter Ornaments that are perfect to accent any Easter tree, gift bag or banner. These ornaments range in size from 3” to 4” and each front showcases an adorable vintage postcard image while the back of each ornament is simply covered with images of vintage sheet music. You will accent each ornament with a silk flower, self adhesive pearls, brown & white baker’s twine and buttons.

If you choose, the vintage images can be accented with Diamond Stickles and the scroll frames can be accented using Platinum Stickles. I will show you how to accent dangling chandelier pieces using Copic markers which can be purchased at Crop-Paper-Scissors if you wish to accent your ornaments. There will be lots of painting, sanding, glittering and gluing in this class with the end results being spectacular.

Each kit includes step-by-step instructions with color photos for those that like to recreate projects exactly as shown. And you will receive plenty of scroll frames (a complete tin – 24 scroll frames total) to recreate ornaments for additional holidays.

For those who do not care to use glitter, please feel free to opt out as I understand not everyone loves glitter as much as I do. You can leave your scroll frames simply painted and inked. Your finished ornaments will be perfect either way.

You will alter the cover of this unique 5” square canvas binder album with mini chipboard tags covered with images of vintage ledger paper, sheet music, book pages and gorgeous fine silver German glass glitter covered embellishments. The inside of the album is covered with images of vintage bingo cards and includes two canvas pockets that have been altered with crocheted doilies, trim and burlap accents. These canvas pockets are perfect to hold any of your small mementos and memorabilia. There are 3 pages perfect for covering with photos (6 photos total) of your favorite vintage items, heritage family photos or images of your everyday life. This album can be any theme you decide. I think it would be a wonderful “All About Me” album.

Each kit includes step-by-step instructions with color photos for those that like to recreate projects exactly as shown. I just don’t want you creative rebels that like to do your own thing to feel as though you are locked into my design. This is not the case. For those who do not care to use glitter, please feel free to opt out as I understand not everyone loves glitter as much as I do. You can leave your bird cage and heart chipboard embellishments covered with silver ink as provided. Your finished album cover will be perfect either way.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

February14

Little Red Wagon is one of my all time favorite stamp sets by Pink Persimmon. You will find a tag I created using this stamp set on page 66 in my book Delight In The Details. And the above card is a card I created last year (which just happens to be my all time favorite Valentine’s Day card) if it looks familiar to my long time blog readers. If you are new to my blog you can learn how to recreate this card here.

I have been busy creating some adorable vintage inspired Easter Ornaments that can be used as either ornaments, tags or accents on a spring garland. This class will be taught in the morning on March 6th at Crop, Paper, Scissors in Waco. And the cool thing is you will have enough product left over to create several more for additional holidays. And believe me you will want to as these little cuties are so addicting.

And (I feel like my 6 year old niece Madelyn talking when she gets excited with all these Ands) I have some very exciting workshops I am working on. They will be titled “More Delight In The Details…” and (there I go again) I will be talking about each project in the chapter and showing you how to recreate lots of the projects in my book. I plan on having four different workshops which will be broken up into Chapters so there will be 4 total workshops. I will not be teaching the techniques since that is already explained in my book but I will gladly answer any questions you may have regarding them.

So as you can see I have been very busy with class projects, workshop preparations and dealing with everyday life. But I am super happy with where I am at this moment and thank all of you for being a huge part of it.

Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope it is a great one for all of you.

It’s a Texas Winter Wonderland…

February12

and I am loving it!!! Here are a few photos from around our house that I thought I would share. This is a record snowfall for us Dallas/Fort Worth Texans.

Looking down and across the street while standing in our driveway.

The birch tree in our back yard.

These are trees in our front yard peeking over the backyard fence.

This is a view of the landscaping in our backyard in front of our kitchen window.

As you can see this is going to be a perfect scrapbooking day. I will be finishing up my second class to be taught at Crop, Paper, Scissors in Waco, March 6th. This is really going to be a fun day. I will be teaching two classes and my friend Lisa will be helping with a Maya Road make n take… hope to see ya there.

What was I thinking?

February11

Seriously, I had no idea I would have such a wonderful response over my book. I honestly put my heart and soul into each project and wrote in the hopes that you would feel like we were sitting at the kitchen table chatting. You all have been so incredibly wonderful and I thank you so much. This being said I had NO idea I would be so busy after I came home from CHA. My feet hit the floor running. Everyone that purchased a book from me… it is on the way so start stalking the mailman now.

I have been answering email like crazy so if you sent me one and I have not responded as of yet please know I am answering them as quickly as I can. I am also designing two classes to teach at Crop Paper Scissors in Waco on March 6th. I am really excited about teaching at this store as I have heard some really nice things about it and I loved getting to meet Emmalie at CHA. My friend Wendy taught at her store and had a wonderful time. Here is a sneak peek below of the album class I will be teaching in the afternoon. Still working on the morning class and will post some sneak peeks early next week. Plus I need to get her all the info mainly the cost of the classes and supplies needed list. I tell ya I was not kidding when I said I hit the floor running. I believe Emmalie will have copies of my book there as well. Plus I will be bring lots of the projects feature in my book for you to see in person. Oh back to Wendy she has her 2nd book out that I will certainly be posting about as it is super wonderful.

And today we are getting snow… 3 inches so far. I love the snow and watching it fall from my scraproom window is awesome. It should be snowing all day… can’t wait to see what the final amount will be. This is a lot for us here in Texas. Although it is supposed to get below freezing tonight and with this really wet snow it is not going to be a good thing for morning commuters. Thankfully Alan and I both work from home.

Okay back to work… gotta get crack-a-lackin’ as my sweet friend Dina would say. Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Free project tutorial from my book…

February5

This month on the Memory Makers blog they are offering a free project from my book “Delight In The Details“. It is my “Crepe Paper Rosette” tutorial.

As you all know I LOVE creating crepe paper rosettes. I create them in many different sizes, love to use decorative scissors to create unique edges as well as accent the edges using Stickles. This tutorial will show you step by step how I make mine as well as show you a few examples of them used in projects.

Crepe Paper Rosettes are wonderful accents for cards, tags, layouts, home decor projects etc. Anyplace you want to add a flower in my opinion is the perfect spot for a crepe paper rosette.

You will also notice products in the projects shown from a few of my many wonderful sponsors… Clearsnap, Cornish Heritage Farms, Fiskars, Jenni Bowlin, Maya Road, Melissa Frances, Pink Persimmon and Ranger.

And for those of you that ordered a signed copy of my book, this weekend I will be signing and packaging them to mail  Monday. The response I have had with book purchases as well as the kindest comments and emails has been so overwhelming. Thank you all so much.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

My Baby is Here!

February2

And finally I get to show her off. I now know how an elephant feels being pregnant for two years… poor things. Two years is a very long time when you are waiting for something awesome. So here is the front and back covers (still cannot believe these photos were taken on my table) and sneak peeks of a few of the 100 projects inside.

Inside you will find wall hangings and banners of all sizes

Layouts and Tags (notice my friend Wendy Vecchi’s Butterfly Stamp and the gorgeous Jenni Bowlin papers)

One of my favorite layouts (love Maya Road Chipboard)

You will also find lots of cards (notice another one of Wendy’s stamps, that leaf is so fun to work with)

Several different sized mini albums (Maya Road binder albums are the best)

Tomorrow I will give you a run down of all the great products I saw at CHA. It took me several days to recuperate from this show… lots of emotion and excitement.
