What a great mail day…

Nov 25, 2008

Okay I have to admit I have been a tad bit stressed about the big “Thanksgiving Day” dinner at our house. Alan’s mom and dad are coming and Terri’s boyfriend Laren will be bringing his family. I know it will be fun and everything will turn out beautifully but I didn’t name my blog “It’s in The Details” for nothing…. seriously I can make myself NUTS detailing everything down to the last grain of salt. I am the type of person that can make a mountain out of a mole hill with any project or event. My brain just keeps thinking about adding this and that and this would be great oh and if we had this, that would be great too…. Sorry I kinda got off topic… wait I don’t think I even...

Miniature is so fun…

Nov 23, 2008

I think these miniature bottle brush type wreathes are so charming. They remind me of the vintage ornaments my grandmother would have had. This little project is part of my Countdown to Christmas project in my 12 Days of Christmas Workshop. Lots of creative fun has been going on in there. We will be creating Monsieur Hiver this week. Oh how I love this project. So if you have a little tin or box and want to put a sentiment inside as a little surprise to who ever opens it, this is super easy and cute… give it a try. And the best part is these are cheap and add such simple charm to any...

Felt Addiction…

Nov 21, 2008

This is what I seem to have at the moment. I love felt. I created this card using my friend Wendy’s Studio 490 Art of Making it Merry stamp set. I just inked the stamps, stamped the image onto some cream felt, then used that as my embroidery pattern for the flourishes. Then I stamped the flower image three times onto some red felt, cut them out, layered them, put some french knots in the center and accented the edges using Platinum Stickles. I think this came out pretty cute. Adding the Platinum Stickles gives it the cheesy vintage look which I love so much right now too. So dig out those stamp sets you have stashed away and see what great embroidery patterns you have just waiting to be used. If you want...

If you love CUPCAKES…

Nov 19, 2008

you need to check out this new Etsy store. My friend Jessica has a sister-in-law that is SO TALENTED. So Jessica convinced her to open up an Etsy store “Raubski”. You can purchase originals and/or reproductions at a great price. I think this is the most incredible cupcake. Look at that detail and the vibrant colors… makes me want to eat one now. Anyway, you will find others in her store like Chocolate, Striped, Blue Heart, Cherry and as you can guess my favorite is shown above “Freddie’s cupcake“. Actually I love them all and just closed my eyes and picked to see which one I would feature. The colors are so vibrant and the designs are incredible. Brenda is just now starting her store so check back often as she will be adding...

Another sampling…

Nov 18, 2008

I have received several emails asking if it is to late to sign up for my workshop… no, it is not. The last project will be posted November 28th and I will leave the workshop open until December 15th 31st. This should give everyone time to complete the projects, print out the many downloads of vintage postcards, greeting cards, templates and copy any recipes you might want to give a try this holiday season. Below are some of the projects created in my 12 Days of Christmas online Workshop. They are part of the Countdown to Christmas weekly projects. Weekly projects are posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I also have weekend projects which are posted every Saturday. In this workshop there are a total of 15 projects. Each project tutorial includes color photos...

A few online stores…

Nov 15, 2008

I am always looking for some nice reliable online stores with great customer service and this week I found two and thought I would share. If you are in the need for any beautiful pink forget-me-nots well Holly Doodle Designs is the place to get them. She is selling them for an incredible price, has great shipping, nice packaging and is super sweet. Now the next place is certainly not a good place for your wallet so I am going to apologize right now… Candice Carpenter’s Peacoats and Party Hats oh my…. remember you have been warned. Enter her store at your own risk! Super cute product, great shipping, nice packaging and she too is super sweet. So there ya go… my two enabling stores for the weekend. Happy...

Embellish the Embellishment…

Nov 12, 2008

I do this all the time… especially if what I am about to use already has glitter such as these cute little bells. It seems they never put enough glitter on them so I dip a paint brush into some Elmer’s School Glue no run Gel, brush it on the bells, then sprinkle more glitter on top. Once the glue is dry I take my Platinum Stickles and go all around the edge. I feel this gives it that true vintage look. Then I put a drop of hot glue from my glue gun in the center of each bell and add tiny jingle bell to each one. Now you have a perfectly embellished...

More details and a winner…

Nov 11, 2008

Here is an embellishment I want to share… this is a simple Sizzix Die Cut flower (Flower Layers #3) cut from cream felt. But since I can’t leave anything alone…. I added some simple hand stitching, a little tulle, a mother of pearl button for the center and accented that with a pearl bead. This is a great example of taking something simple and making it over the top with little effort but oh the impact you get. Now I have a gorgeous embellishment for a little workshop project that will be featured on that blog Saturday. There are lots of busy little elves working away in the 12 Days of Christmas Workshop including the newest elf Donna. Congrats Donna, you are the winner of the Free Pass to my 12 Days of Christmas...

Nov 9, 2008

My favorite colors are Red and Cream anything accented with Silver Glitter, Rhinestones and Jingle Bells… yep as you can see it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my 12 Days of Christmas Workshop. With the first weeks worth of projects behind us I thought I would share a little sneak peek of a few projects that will be created next week. There is still time to join in on all the fun. The last project will be featured November 28th but the workshop will remain open until December 15th. This should give everyone plenty of time to finish up. But if you want to try for a chance to win a free pass to my 12 Days of Christmas Workshop just leave a comment. I will have Santa pick one...

Rhinestones and Glitter…

Nov 7, 2008

As many of you know I love that combination…. sparkly things make me so happy. Especially around the holidays. I love seeing all the lights twinkle, the glitter sparkle and the rhinestones shimmer. This is a little sneak peek of what we will be making tomorrow in my workshop while we await the arrival of Santa. Each Saturday evening Santa will visit the gallery to pick someone who has been very creative with their workshop projects. Then Sunday, I will announce who will receive a RAK of fabulous Maya Road goodies. Oh the fun that is being had by...

It really is…

Nov 2, 2008

all about those little details. I just can’t seem to leave a project alone. I have to keep adding and adding and adding… for example… See that little button behind the pom pom… yep had to put it there or I wouldn’t be able to sleep… See the Platinum Stickles around the edge of the tag and in the center of each letter and the double bow of red & white and brown & white twine… yep another had to do it. See the thread in the button… had to have this too. So if you really want your projects to pop and have that added bit of umph… just keep adding little things here and there as they really do make a huge difference and all the little extras will make your eyes...
